Hi, I'm Sam. I've spent my career turning messy data into decisions.
I've built reporting for a major FMCG retailer, an overseas business and a national construction firm. Now I bring that same experience to small businesses across the UK.
When you work with me, you deal with the person doing the work. No account managers, no hand-offs and no jargon, just someone who has sat where you are, staring at a spreadsheet that takes too long and still doesn't answer the question.
How I got here
Where it started
Data Analyst for a major FMCG retailer
I began as a Data Analyst for a major fast-moving consumer goods retailer, working in perishables. With fresh stock, a wrong decision on ordering or pricing meant waste and a high cost, often within days. It taught me early that a figure is only useful if the right person can understand it and trust it, quickly.
Overseas
Building forecasting systems from scratch in the UAE
I moved to the United Arab Emirates to do the same work in a new market, with one big difference: there was no system to inherit. I designed and built the forecasting tools myself, from the raw data upwards, and learned how to make something reliable when nobody has done it before.
Back in the UK
Building a company-wide system from the ground up
Back in the UK, I took on a role where there was plenty of data but no proper way of using it. Alongside the day job I taught myself PostgreSQL, Power BI and Python and picked up new analysis techniques, putting each one straight to work for the business. That culminated in a bespoke, company-wide system for tracking clients, tenders, projects, team workload and much more, replacing a sprawl of separate spreadsheets with one place everyone trusts. I designed and built it, and I still maintain it today.
Recent work
A client portal for a large construction company
I built a portal for a large construction company's site teams to track and manage utility installations project by project. Teams on site see the status of each scope, and the office no longer has to chase updates by phone and email.
How I work
Start with what you've got
I look at the spreadsheets, reports and systems you already use before suggesting anything new. Often a better version of what you have is the right answer.
Only the figures that matter
I ask what you need to keep an eye on and what decisions you make. A report that doesn't help you decide something isn't worth building.
Plain English, always
No jargon and no black boxes. If I use a technical term, I explain it. If a number looks wrong, I'll show you why it is what it is, or fix it.
Yours to keep
Everything is documented and handed over properly. You're never locked in or left guessing how something works.
How a project runs
A conversation
Tell us what's taking too much time and, if you can, show us the spreadsheets or reports involved. No preparation needed.
A clear proposal
We suggest what to do, starting with the simplest option, and confirm the cost and timescale in writing before any work starts.
We build it with you
You see progress early, and we check the figures with you as we go, so there are no surprises.
Handover and support
We show your team how it works, write it down in plain English, and stay on hand for changes.
Show us what you're working with.
Send us a short note about the spreadsheets or reports that are taking up too much time. We'll arrange a friendly, no-obligation chat and suggest the simplest way to improve things.
